Youth counselling and support services at Inspiro

Inspiro provides counselling, peer support groups, youth health support, medication recovery programs and other assistance. Counselling at Inspiro Lilydale, Inspiro Belgrave and Inspiro: Healesville is now available and is free for youth, young adults and teens. Scroll down the page to see the youth health services we offer.

Inspiro also provides general counselling, youth counselling, family counselling, counselling for depression anxiety and stress and counselling for drug and alcohol. 

Youth and young adult counselling services at Inspiro are funded by the Yarra Ranges Council.

Free youth counselling Services


A free counselling service for young people between 12 – 25 years who may be dealing with depression, anxiety, bullying, harassment or managing relationships. The service will be helpful for young people who may be feeling down, stressed out, anxious or confused, or need help to gain life skills and build their confidence.

Inspiro provides a wide range of health services from our Lilydale, Healesville and Belgrave clinics, and other community venues including counselling at Yarra Junction. Peer support program


Space 4 Us is a free peer support program for young people aged 13–18 years who have a family member with a mental illness. Meet other young people in similar situations, share experiences and learn new ways of looking after yourselves and dealing with others with mental illness:

• Build self care and support strategies
• Improve relationships

Inspiro run a support group in Lilydale for families and individuals who have dealt with or are dealing with others who have been abusing drugs or alcohol. The support group focuses on the well-being of the family, learning about addictive behaviour, providing strategies to best cope with addictive behaviours, sharing stories and learning from each other.

Mean girls can make your daughters life hell



Remember the movie Mean Girls? The one with Lindsay Lohan who plays the home-schooled girl in Africa, who returns to the US, to attend school? The movie looks at female high school social groups and the damaging effect they can have on girls.


Some things about growing up and school life never seem to change – like the desire to be liked, to be part of the ‘in’ crowd - the cool kids... I tried to look like them, but never made it out of the nerd group. Not until I went to an all-girls high school, where to my shock...

"Damian's reduced self-confidence led him to becoming quieter, more self-conscious and not wanting to bring attention to himself. He would be too worried to ask his teachers if he didn’t understand something in class. With the heavier workload, and his reluctance to ask for help at school and at home, he started to fall behind his school work too. Small things seemed to grow huge in his mind. Damian was anxious and stressed about school and in his head, everything seemed so hard. There were days when he struggled to get out of bed and looked for excuses to miss school."

Medication Support Service program



This program provides specialist assessment and treatment programs for individuals and families affected by pharmaceutical misuse or dependence.

The service is aimed at helping people access treatment for misuse of prescription and over-the-counter medications, which can be difficult due to community stigma of having a drug problem.

Social skills group for youth and teens with autism

The group is for young people aged 12-17 who are are on the autism spectrum and is provided at no charge. Participants can learn skills to help solve social problems, manage emotions and interact with others in a variety of ways.
