Once you have joined the NDIS, you will be contacted by an NDIA representative or an NDIS Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to have a planning conversation to create your NDIS support plan.
Your NDIS support plan will say what supports and how much funds you will get. You can choose the supports, eg. occupational therapy; and who gives you supports, eg. Inspiro.
Preparing for your planning conversation / meeting (The NDIS Pre-plan)
Before your planning conversation/meeting, you should prepare as much as possible by identifying your goals, what supports you are currently getting, and what you need to reach your goals. The NDIS has a Planning Workbook available to help you here: https://www.ndis.gov.au/participants/planning-process
You should get quotes from service providers like Inspiro for the supports you want, and use these quote for your NDIS planning meeting.
Once your plan is finalised it will be submitted to the NDIS for funding approval. Once approved, an NDIA representative or your Local Area Coordinator will contact you to discuss how you can put your plan into action.
Not happy with your NDIS plan?
If you are not happy with your approved NDIS plan, you have 3 months to ask the NDIS to review it. The supports you need might change. The NDIS will review your plan with you:
- Once a year
or
- If lots of things change in your life. For example, you might move out of your family’s home.
