On Saturday the official opening of the Belgrave Hub was held at 1616/1624 Burwood Hwy, Belgrave VIC 3160. It was a very proud moment for many who had worked on this project for some time.
UPDATE: 17 June 2018: Due to community need, the Belgrave Hub opening hours have changed.
People from all over the Yarra Ranges came along
The MC for the formal proceedings was Yarra Ranges Mayor Councilor Len Cox, who acknowledged the perseverance of a number of people, including former Inspiro CEO Karyn McPeake and Board Chair Stephen Potter. The project cost just under ten million dollars and it came together with the contribution of funding from the three levels of government; local, state and federal, with additional support coming from Inspiro in the form of funding and land.
Thank you to those who worked hard to make the community hub a success
Mr Jason Wood, Federal Member for Latrobe, spoke about the excellent working relationships that were needed for this community project to get off the ground. Deputy Premier of Victoria, the Honourable James Merlino, told of the perseverance of Ali Wastie (Yarra Ranges Council) and Karyn McPeake and their willingness to do whatever it would take to make the Belgrave community hub concept reality.
