This week marks the 10th Anniversary of Inspiro's Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies (HMHB) program and we celebrated with a special morning tea at Belgrave Community Hub. People from affiliate programs and partnerships attended including Yarra Valley HMHB, Dandenong HMHB, Yarra Ranges Maternity and Child Health Services, Angliss Hospital and Anchor Inc Housing.
HMHB is run by Vicki Reddick, Sheryl Dawson and Anna Bell, to support women who need help during pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after birth. The team provides parenting support and helps connect mothers to before and after birth services including Maternal and Child Health Services, housing, playgroups and much more.
The first HMHB client participated in the program in August 2009, and in ten years the program has helped 341 mum's and their bubs!
At the start young mum's and those with a mental health situation were often referred to the program from Box Hill and Angliss hospitals. In recent years, more mum's experiencing drug and alcohol challenges have been referred. The program also partners with other community organisations like Anchor Inc Housing Support who help mum's experiencing homelessness.
It's wonderful to see how the program has grown and had such a positive effect in our community. We're looking forward to helping more mum's and bubs in the next ten years!.
