How is the funding in NDIS plans managed?

The NDIS offers four options on how your plan can be managed, this gives you choice and control over the providers you select and how often you choose to use services. We have listed the four ways an NDIS plan can be managed below. If you would like more information about these four ways to manage your NDIS plan call us directly on 9028 0153.


  1. Self-manage: Where the Participant manages it themselves or manage it with the help of a Plan Nominee/Trusted Person if they do not have the capability to do so.


    With this method:

    • The Participant can choose Service Providers who are not registered with the NDIA.
    • The Participant will manage the Service Bookings and payments with Service Providers and keep their own records of how they spend the funds.
    • The Participant will claim the expenses through the NDIS
  1. Plan Managed/Plan Management: Have a Plan Manager manage your NDIS plan

With this method:

  • The Participant can choose Service Providers who are not registered with the NDIA.
  • The Participant can make their Service Bookings directly with a Service Provider.
  • The Participant’s Service Providers will invoice the Participant’s Plan Manager.
  • The Participant’s Plan Manager will pay the Service Provider directly, and make a payment request in MyPlace for the funds to be reimbursed to the Plan Manager.

 

  1. NDIA Managed: Have the NDIA manage your NDIS plan

With this method:

  • The Participant has to use approved NDIS Service Providers.
  • The Participant must make their Service Bookings through the NDIA portal ‘MyPlace’.
  • The Service Providers make payment requests in MyPlace for the cost of the supports provided to The Participant. The NDIA pays the Service Provider.



4. A combination of the above

You can combine some or all of the three options above. Note that in some cases, the NDIA may appoint a Plan Manager for The Participant.
