It can be stressful to start at a new school or to come back to school after the holidays are over, or just to get up and go to school in the mornings

Small problems can quickly become huge, as this story about a local high school boy called Damian shows.

"Damian's reduced self-confidence led him to becoming quieter, more self-conscious and not wanting to bring attention to himself. He would be too worried to ask his teachers if he didn’t understand something in class. With the heavier workload, and his reluctance to ask for help at school and at home, he started to fall behind his school work too. Small things seemed to grow huge in his mind. Damian was anxious and stressed about school and in his head, everything seemed so hard. There were days when he struggled to get out of bed and looked for excuses to miss school."

Stressed at school? Feeling pressured, depressed, or anxious? Parents annoying you or not understanding your situation? Parents don’t understand what you mean, just not getting it or think it’s still the 1980’s?

I’d often stay up late at night for no reason except to chill out and try to de-stress – which never really worked because I always ended up tired and was never able to really de-stress.. Outside of leaving school or home I really didn’t think that there way for things to get better or improve. Read more.
